Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, give up. Never give up. Never give up. Never give up!  The pessimist sees the problems in every opportunity. Whereas the optimist sees the opportunity in every problem” Defeated in every public office election until elected (twice) prime minister at 62-Winston Churchill.

Last year, I had paid a visit to the Art Institute of Chicago. I was looking at exhibits, marveling at the creativity and imagination of the artists’ works. In the meantime I had struck a conversation with one of the attendants on the modern art floor wing. As the conversation went on, she asked me, “Do you know what is the most valuable piece or real estate on earth?”

My first response was the oil fields of North Dakota.

Her response, a cemetery. Why? Because there lays buried… millions of ideas never acted upon or given up too soon on….She told me this and made me think. What dream or ideas had I given up on? What will be buried with me?

So, I thought what does Winston Churchill, Walt Disney, Tyler Perry, Babe Ruth, and the Wright brothers have in common? They never gave up. They didn’t let their circumstances define who they were, they put their ear muffs on to those who said it couldn’t be done, and they kept swinging when most people gave up. They turned the negatives into opportunities to grow!  They had a dream so stinking big that nothing was going to get in their way of achieving it.

What’s the lesson here? Successful people have a vision/dream and are committed!

No matter how big or small your goals and dreams are don’t let anyone steal it from you.  You may get frustrated. Just never give up! No matter how dire the situation may be. Stay committed. If you are told no 1009 times (like the Colonel), if you are told you are too old, remember it’s never too late to keep get started and to keep swinging! Don’t let your dream and vision be buried! Live it!

3 tips in pursuing your dreams.

1. Find a team who will support and encourage you.

2. Find someone who has attempted what you have done.

3. Learn and grow from each failure.
